I never talk on my personal cell when driving.  Once in a while I will answer my work cell if it is really important.  But there was a recent Oprah show where people told true stories of how their loved one got killed because of someone talking or texting while driving.  Summer saw it and said she was taking the oath to never talk (she never did text) while driving.  I said I would take the oath too.  So, we both pledged to never talk on the phone while driving.  That includes checking who is calling if it rings.  Done

I hope you will all consider doing the pledge too.  Make your car a no cell phone zone.

“Hang up and drive” is my bumper-sticker so I do pledge to not use a cellphone while driving. They invented voicemail so you will not miss any important messages. I also hope they make a law to just make using a cellphone and driving forbidden.

What about hands-free? Of course this isn’t too big of a problem for me since I don’t own a car.

The studies have been showing for years that talking on the phone while driving is distracted driving. (the same part of the brain needed to drive is occupied by concentrating on the conversation). this amounts to driving while impaired or….legally drunk. It has nothing to do with the hands….or they would have to ban cheeseburgers in America :)

Then ALL conversation should be banned! Singing too! No talking or listening to the radio while driving!!!

I actually have texted while driving a stick-shift through a round-about. Usually I don’t talk on the phone and drive…
